LEARNING OBJECTIVES

When completed this module the students should be able to:

Understand and appreciate the mechanism of well drilling, Calculate the deviation required to reach a specific reservoir target and design the well path;

Understand drill string hydraulics and produce a suitable bottom hole assembly design for each hole section;

Understand and be able to calculate mud densities to overcome an unexpected well influx (kick) and to design a circulation method to return to safe operation

PEDAGOGICAL METHODS

The course is composed of a theoretical component, reinforced by a component of practice using calculation and analysis exercises to consolidate theoretical concepts learned.
